PoSoCoMeS Conference in September 2023

Save the date!

The Post-Socialist and Comparative Memory Studies (PoSoCoMeS) working group is part of the Memory Studies Association. Our goal is to bring together researchers, activists, and practitioners working in and on post-socialist countries. We call for trans-regional comparative studies that connect Eastern Europe and Africa, Southern America and Asia, and result in broad conceptualizations of post-socialist memories.

Following its highly successful 2020 online conference co-organised with the Institute of Oral History of Moldova, PoSoCoMeS is preparing to hold another large conference in 2023. The conference will be hosted by Tallinn University in Estonia on 20-23 September 2023, and will be organised jointly with the teams of the research projects “Translating Memories: The Eastern European Past in the Global Arena” at Tallinn University, led by Eneken Laanes, and “Practices and Challenges of Mnemonic Pluralism in Baltic History Museums” at the University of Tartu, led by Ene Kõresaar.
