In its third year, the Annual Memory Studies Association Conference will grow to gather over 1.500 scholars, artists and memorial practitioners from across the globe.
Memory Studies is an emerging and exciting research field, and the objective of the Memory Studies Association (MSA) is to promote exchange between professionals who are active in this heterogeneous and interdisciplinary field throughout the world.
MSA MADRID in June 2019 will be a unique experience. Hosted by Complutense University Madrid, the program will feature twice as much content as the previous editions in Amsterdam and Copenhagen.
The MSA is happy to announce that we can provide a limited number of travel grants for colleagues giving papers at the 2019 MSA Conference in Madrid. The grants serve two purposes. We would like to support colleagues who would not be able to participate in the conference without financial support. Moreover, we would like to use the grants to enhance the MSA’s reach and diversity. Hence we are particularly interested in receiving applications from colleagues from low-income countries (for instance in the global South) and/or from colleagues without access to institutional travel support who are representing fields of study or fields of memory/heritage practice that have not been well represented during past MSA conferences. All grants will be partial grants. We will not be able to defray all expenses connected with conference participation.
Please send a short application consisting of a brief bio, a paragraph addressing your financial situation, and the title/abstract of your accepted paper to Wulf Kansteiner (email@example.com) by March 3. Grant recipients will be notified on a rolling basis starting on March 24.
Conference: 25 – 28 June 2019
Registration for paper presenters and other participants: until 31 March 2019
