Gruia Bădescu is a Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Konstanz. His research examines how urban and architectural interventions relate to processes of dealing with the past after war and dictatorship, with a particular interest in circulations of memorialization practices between regions. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge. Before Konstanz, he was a lecturer and research associate at the University of Oxford, where he researched as part of a AHRC-Labex grant the transnational memorialization of sites of political violence in South America and Central and Eastern Europe. He has published on transnational circulations, as well as comparative accounts of dealing with the past in urban space. He is currently completing a book on memory articulations of post-war architectural reconstruction.
