Memory Scholars at Risk Fellowship: Renewed Collaboration with Gerda Henkel Foundation
The Memory Studies Association (MSA) is proud to announce the renewal of our collaboration with the Gerda Henkel Foundation in support of the Memory Scholars at Risk Fellowship program. The Foundation has generously committed €32,000 for 2025, enabling us to extend critical assistance to more scholars in perilous situations. We deeply appreciate the Gerda Henkel Foundation’s confidence in our mission and continued partnership.
Since the program’s inception in 2022, we have successfully supported eight scholars in finding safe academic havens. Additionally, we are pleased to work in partnership with Off-University to expand our reach and impact. The Gerda Henkel Foundation also funds the Scholars at Risk Travel Grants, which provide vital support for scholars to attend our annual conference. To date, this program has facilitated conference participation for four scholars.
We are currently seeking a host institution for an Afghan scholar. Institutions interested in collaborating are encouraged to contact us at msafellowship@gmail.com. Finally, we remain hopeful that the borders of the Gaza Strip will soon reopen, allowing a scholar from Palestine to begin her fellowship in Spain.
