Letter of Welcome

New MSA Working Group
Memories of Antiquity

The MSA is thrilled to announce a new Working Group amongst its ranks: Memories of Antiquity. The recently established group has the following message for MSA members. Read it and join them!

Dear members of the MSA,

We are Dr. Madeleine Tulip, Jakob Schneider and Prof. Aaron Schmitt, and in association with the Memory Studies Association (MSA) we have recently founded an international research group on ‘Memories of Antiquity’, which we hereby invite you to join.

In this research collective, we plan to encourage, enable, and co-ordinate international collaborations between scholars of various disciplines interested in memory studies and the study of antiquity. We are scholars of antiquity (ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and the Near East) and its reception, and are looking for fellow researchers who are, like us, interested in using approaches from memory studies (such as memory schemata, travelling memory, oral memory, memoryscapes, etc.) to discuss the reception and transmission of and within antiquity.

We are interested in facilitating discussion and knowledge exchange in the form of online forum discussions (via the MSA website: https://www.memorystudiesassociation.org/working-group-memories-of-antiquity/), conferences and symposia, and are looking to facilitate and coordinate joint publication outputs.

If you are interested in joining our research group, please drop us a line via memories.of.antiquity@gmail.com and we will add you to our mailing list.

Very best wishes,
The Memories of Antiquity Research Group
